Princess Bajrakitiyabha passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at 3.55 p.m. at Chulalongkorn Hospital, according to the Royal Household Bureau’s statement. She was admitted to the place after she lost consciousness due to a serious cardiac arrest in 2022. It has been revealed that the Thai Princess’ health had dropped in the past weeks. She suffered an abdominal infection due to intestinal inflammation. She suffered from low blood pressure, which led to a drop in heart rate and blood-clotting complications. The statement can be read as:

“Despite receiving continuous medical care and treatment using every available measure, her condition gradually deteriorated. Ultimately, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 3:55 p.m., Her Royal Highness passed away peacefully at Chulalongkorn Hospital of the Thai Red Cross Society at the age of 47.”

The King Vajiralongkorn will host a royal funeral for his eldest daughter, with the highest funeral honours in accordance with Thai Royal tradition. The little princess’ mortal remains will lie in state at the Pimarn Rattaya Throne Hall inside Bangkok’s Grand Palace.

As per reports, the princess’s condition worsened on May 25, 2026, after she got a bloodstream infection caused by inflammation of the large intestine. Her health suffered despite the doctor’s best efforts to revive her condition. Bhutan’s king Jigme Khesar also expressed his sadness over the princess’s demise. His statement can be read as:

“Their Majesties the King and Queen of Bhutan received with great sadness the news of the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati of Thailand. Her Royal Highness devoted her life to serving her country and her people. Through her work promoting justice, supporting the welfare of women and children, and her distinguished service in the Royal Thai Armed Forces, she exemplified a deep sense of duty and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. Her dedication to public service earned her widespread respect and admiration.”

What happened to Princess Bajrakitiyabha?

Princess Bajrakitiyabha was believed to be the most capable and admired member, and she could have been the queen of Thailand. She was born on December 7, 1978, to King Vajiralongkorn and Princess Soamsawali. She earned a degree in International Relations and received a doctorate in law from the University of Chicago. Talking about what went wrong to her, she was training her dogs for a canine competition in Nakhon Ratchasima province, when she suddenly collapsed due to a cardiac arrest. Initially, it was revealed that she suffered a heart-related condition that affected her multiple organs.

For several months, the royal family didn’t reveal much about the princess’s condition. Over the years, reports revealed that she was on life support systems to maintain bodily functions. It was the biggest crisis the Thai monarchy suffered. Her passing left many to wonder who would be the next royal to take the title of king or queen. It is worth mentioning that King Rama X never officially named his future heir, and several royal family members might take the position. Among them, the most frequently named is Prince Dipangkorn Ramijoti, one of the King’s sons. But the decision remains in the king’s hands.

We pray for the family of Princess Bajrakitiyabha as they navigate through the biggest loss.
