The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 will open at Edgbaston on June 12 with an opening ceremony which looks to blend sport, music, and culture.
The ceremony will have a live performance by the full West End cast of Wicked, led by theater actors Emma Kingston and Zizi Strallen.
By involving the entire cast of a major West End Theater Musical, it serves as a way to commemorate Wicked’s 20th anniversary. Furthermore, over 150,000 tickets have been sold for the event, which will be held prior to the opening match of the World Cup.
The 2026 edition features 12 teams, including newcomer Netherlands and returning Ireland, with matches running from June 12 to July 5.
