As the celebratory mood continues, an old interview of Vijay has surfaced in which the actor admits he is a big fan of Shah Rukh Khan.

Thalapathy Vijay might be one of the biggest superstars in the Tamil industry, but this did not stop him from openly admitting his admiration for actors. For instance, in an old interview with Rahul Kanwal, Vijay revealed that he is a big fan and admirer of Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. While praising Shah Rukh, he told Rahul that the reason he looks up to him is that he speaks well. According to Vijay, SRK is someone whose articulation and elocution are very high. Vijay said:
“I used to see him, and I used to think, look at how well-spoken this guy is.”
For the uninitiated, Vijay and Shah Rukh Khan have actually crossed paths before, reportedly during the making of the movie, Jawan. Additionally, many might not be aware that the duo also made their film debuts in the same year, 1992.
Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, it is worth noting that Thalapathy Vijay has acknowledged the significant influence of renowned political figures, such as M Karunanidhi, J Jayalalitha, and MG Ramachandran. Based on online reports, now that Vijay has secured victory in the 2026 TN election, many have begun to consider him the Jana Nayagan of the state. Thalapathy Vijay’s parents celebrated their son’s success in the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections
On Monday, May 4, 2025, ANI caught up with Vijay’s parents. Reacting to TVK being massively in the lead, his mother, Shoba Chandrashekhar, smiled and said, “I’m so happy.” Vijay’s father, SA Chandrasekhar, revealed that Shoba is actually Vijay’s first fan, so it is not a surprise that she is filled with joy at her son’s success. For those unaware, Vijay’s father had played a huge part in launching his career as a child artist. This was back in the ‘80s. As an adult, Chandrashekhar revealed that Vijay has hoped to “do something for Tamil Nadu” for the last 30 years. He stated:
“I am motivated. As a human, you should not only be an artist, you should have some social thinking. For last 30 years, he (Vijay) had something in his mind, that he has to do something for Tamil Nadu, slowly he has developed. Today he is going to be the Chief Minister.”
According to Chandrashekhar, Vijay’s confidence for the last two years has been great, with him having complete faith that he would become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Chandrasekhar even opened up about how much he appreciates his son’s attitude and boldness, noting that he is capable of standing on his own two feet without any alliance. He was quoted as saying:
“I think it’s a historical success, a historical victory for Vijay. Tamil people loved him, not only as a leader. Every lady treats him like his own son, people treat him like their own brother. Sixty-year-olds consider him a grandson, he has developed that relationship with the public.”
