A fortnight following the conclusion of the 2026 IPL campaign, the Rajasthan Royals’ skipper, Riyan Parag, took to social media to announce a shoulder surgery he had undergone on Thursday, June 11.
In his statement, the 24-year-old said, ”The past two years have tested me in ways I never expected. There were good days, frustrating days, and days when simply getting through a game was a challenge. But I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way”.

Over the course of 14 matches in the 2026 IPL, Parag accumulated 309 runs at a strike rate of 157.65, with a high score of 90. The Royals had an injury-hit IPL campaign, but enjoyed a run until Qualifier 2, falling just short of a finals’ berth against the Gujarat Titans.
Upon the completion of his surgery, he is now expected to undergo rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru. Parag is expected to be sidelined for the majority of the 2026-27 cricket calendar, notably being ruled out of the India A tour of Sri Lanka.
