Bobby Deol reveals how his wife, Tanya, supported the family when he had no work
In a recent conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Bobby Deol spoke about his wife, Tanya Deol’s role in his life. He called her his backbone and shared that it was Tanya who managed the finances while raising their kids, while he had no films in his hand. Speaking about the same, Bobby said:
“I have learnt so much from my mother that way, and from my wife. My wife is like my backbone. I am what I am today is because my wife stood by me. I would have been scattered without her. The problem is… Your family would never be that blunt with you. But a wife can see you and she knows what you’re capable of. She stood by me throughout those dark times, for those 10-15 years, she was working and taking care of things, financially and everything. She has brought up my boys so well.”
Bobby Deol turned to alcohol when he had no work
Son of veteran actor Dharmendra, Bobby Deol was a sensation after he made his debut with the film, Barsaat. Although he had proved his mettle in acting with films like Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, Kareeb, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, and Bichhoo, the actor was unable to cope with the competition. As a result, he had started getting replaced by newcomers. Despite the bad phase of his life, Bobby bounced back and began his second innings.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Ashram actor Bobby Deol talked about one of the darkest phases of his life and how his kids had started asking his wife, Tanya Deol, questions about him not going out to work. Speaking about the same, he revealed:
“While I was doing these films, I got into alcohol which is the worst thing you can do to yourself. My family looked at me with such sadness in their eyes. They were all worried and felt when Bobby would come out of it? My kids kept asking my wife, “Why doesn’t papa go out to work?” And that suddenly snapped me out of it.”

Bobby laid his eyes on Tanya at the Italian cafe, Trattoria in Hotel President. She was there with her brother and their friends, and Bobby had a few acquaintances from Tanya’s group, too. After the first meeting, Bobby and Tanya kept bumping into each other. It was love at first sight for Bobby, and he decided to chase her.
Bobby had called her at an absurd hour of the night, and since she was fast asleep, she didn’t entertain his call. The next day, Tania called all her friends but didn’t get any idea who had called her. However, on the other side, Bobby had thought her to be a ‘snooty girl’ for ignoring his call. But as destiny would have it, when Bobby called her again at a normal hour, they had ended up talking for seven hours. The madly in love couple got married on May 30, 1996.
