According to a report by Manorama Online, the actor passed away after a road accident. For the unversed, the incident took place in Enathu, Pathanamthitta. It is being reported that the car he was travelling in crashed into a lorry, and the actor was severely injured in the crash. Nair was not alone at the time of the accident; Santhosh Nair’s wife, Shubhashree, was also injured in the mishap.

According to reports, Nair suffered a heart attack while undergoing the treatment. He later succumbed to his condition. The lorry driver sustained injuries as well, as reported by Manorama Online.

Malayalam actor, Santhosh Nair was born on November 12, 1960, in Thiruvananthapuram. Born as Santhosh Kesavan Nayar grew up in a well-educated family. According to reports, Nair’s father, C. N. Kesavan Nair, was a retired headmaster, while his mother, P. Rajalakshmiamma, was a retired teacher. The actor spent his early years in Pettah with his two sisters and was raised by his maternal grandparents after his parents moved to Ethiopia.

The late actor, Santhosh Nair completed his schooling at St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School and later pursued higher studies in mathematics at Mahatma Gandhi College. According to the reports, during his college days, Nair was actively involved in politics. However, as he grew up, Nair found himself leaning towards the fine arts. While his sisters became gynaecologists, he chose acting as his career path.

Some of his most loved projects included Dhruvam, Irupatham Noottandu, Aaraatty, Ponniyin Selvan I & II, Kaaryasathan, Vettam, Soorarai Pottru, Oh My Kadavule, Keerthi Chakra, Bus Conductor, Sathya and Kauravar among others.

Bharathanatyam 2: Mohiniyattam, which has a stellar cast including Saiju Kurup, is preparing for its digital release. The film hit theatres on April 10, 2026 and serves as a sequel to the 2024 film, Bharathanatyam. The film will begin streaming on Netflix on May 8, 2026.

Directed by Krishnadas Murali, the story follows ‘Sasidharan Nair’s’ family as they get caught in a tense situation. Bharathanatyam 2: Mohiniyattam is a dark comedy thriller film produced by Thomas Thiruvalla Films and Saiju Kurup Entertainment.
