After a long wait, Euphoria fans were excited to witness their favourite characters move ahead their pasts towards a better life. But, instead, they were upset with ‘Rue’s’ death in the last episode of Season 3. Several viewers expressed their emotions, disagreement, and confusion over the ending on the internet. At the same time, an alleged statement by the show’s lead, Zendaya, who plays ‘Rue,’ surfaced online. In turn, internet users were confused about whether the actress had secretly reacted to her character’s death.
Did Zendaya break her silence on Rue’s death on the Euphoria Season 3 finale?
A social media post about Zendaya’s alleged statement quickly went viral after the Euphoria Season 3 finale aired. It seemed like the actress was addressing ‘Rue’s’ struggles with addiction. In fact, she allegedly even expressed hope that the audience would continue to see her character as someone worthy of love, understanding, and redemption. It also contained a small message of empathy for anyone who was battling addiction in their real life.

As per the screenshot of her statement, Zendaya called ‘Rue’ a person who experienced major lows but was able to work and mend. The statement also mentioned that if people love her character, it will help them understand others facing similar situations. However, when fans took a closer look at the quote in the statement, they realised it was not a reaction to ‘Rue’s’ ending at all. Instead, many fans mentioned that the quote was shared nearly 4 years ago, in 2022, during the promotion of Euphoria Season 2.

In fact, no similar or new statement was shared by Zendaya. The confusion started when fan accounts began sharing the old quote, criticising the ending. So, it made viewers mistakenly believe that the actress had posted something about ‘Rue’s death. One user penned, “When did she post that?” Another person commented, “If that was Rue’s ending, it felt less like a goodbye and more like someone quietly leaving the room before the story was ready to let her go.”

Euphoria Season 3’s finale explained
Euphoria Season 3’s finale gave one of the most shocking moments in the shoe’s history to fans. The 93-minute episode was titled “In God We Trust”, where ‘Rue’s’ story came to a tragic end. Although she tried to rebuild her life and get away from her troubled past, ‘Rue’ relapsed. She took a percocet pill that was packed with Fentanyl by a drug kingpin. He wanted to end her because she was helping authorities to bring the drug network dog. But, she died of an overdose while staying with her sobriety sponsor, ‘Ali’.

The majority of the episode initially shows audiences that ‘Rue’ is on an emotional journey of reunions and personal closure. However, they were later revealed to be caused by Hallucinations due to an overdose. Scenes are later revealed to be part of a hallucination experienced during the overdose. Needless to say, the heartbreaking twist confirmed her death, leaving viewers upset and disappointed. But some viewers liked it for portraying the harsh reality of addiction.

Will there be Euphoria Season 4?
The finale also sparked debate over whether the story could continue. Although some admired the realistic storyline, others felt ‘Rue’ could have had a different ending or makers might continued the story. But the creator of the show, Sam Levinson, has confirmed that Season 3 was the final season, concluding their natural storyline. It comes at a time when the show’s cast, like Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi, have become big stars with busy schedules, making it difficult to coordinate. At the same time, the deaths of the main characters have left no space for a storyline.
