Tata Motors will launch the facelift of its entry-level car Tiago today on May 28. Many major changes have been made in the design, cabin and features of the car. This hatchback car will come in the market with all three powertrain options – petrol (ICE), CNG and electric (EV). This is the first biggest update this car has received since the launch of the current model.

Exterior: Sharp front look and connected LED taillamps

Tata Motors has made the exterior design of Tiago facelift and its electric variants quite sporty. Its headlight housing has a new ‘eyebrow’ like LED DRL, which gives the car a sharp look. The rear of the car gets a new LED taillamp design with vertical lines, which is connected to the company’s Tata logo in the middle. Apart from this, a new bumper has been provided with rear wiper, ‘Tiago’ branding on the tailgate and vertical reflectors.

Interior: Floating screen and new refreshed layout in the cabin

Tata has revamped the interior of the 2026 Tiago facelift. While maintaining the old black and light-grey color combination of the car, the dashboard has now been given a more vertical layout than before. The car gets an updated 2-spoke steering wheel. Apart from this, the ‘TIAGO’ badge found in the center of the dashboard has now been shifted to the climate control panel below. This panel is set on a black board, with the old familiar rotary knobs and toggle switches.

In-cabin tech and features: Free-standing display

This new model has a floating screen for the infotainment system. Along with this, there is also a separate floating screen for the driver’s instrument cluster. Due to this first major update, the overall feature list of the car is expected to be longer and more modern than before.

Option of petrol, CNG and electric.

This car will be available in three options: traditional petrol combustion engine (ICE), eco-friendly CNG and fully electric (EV). The overall styling of the Tiago EV is similar to the petrol model, but the electric variant has a body-coloured panel instead of a black panel. Apart from this, there are vertical slats in its lower part, which distinguish it from the petrol engine version.

Direct competition with these cars

This update will further strengthen Tata’s position in this segment. Here it will have to compete directly with cars like Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

Knowledge Part:

Meaning of ‘facelift’: When an auto company relaunches an existing car without changing its engine or platform, but only by giving cosmetic updates to its exterior look (bumpers, grille, lights) and interior, it is called a ‘facelift’ model. Companies do this every 3-4 years to keep the car fresh and remain competitive.
