IPL 2026 — Why is Jasprit Bumrah not playing against Rajasthan Royals?

Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of Mumbai Indians’ final league match of IPL 2026 against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

Captain Hardik Pandya confirmed at the toss that the pace spearhead had been rested for the match. Bumrah ends his season with his lowest wicket tally in a single edition, picking just four wickets from 13 innings. He averaged 102.5 and conceded at an economy rate of 8.37.

During the season, he also captained Mumbai Indians for the first time, leading it to six wicket victory over Punjab Kings in Dharamshala.

Bumrah had also been rested from India’s ODI and Test squads to face Afghanistan at home next month as part of his workload management. He is likely to return during India’s white-ball series against England later in the year.
