England international Jacob Bethell’s IPL 2026 campaign has come to an early end, his team Royal Challengers Bengaluru announced on Saturday.
“Jacob Bethell has sustained an injury to his left ring finger during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Punjab Kings. Following medical assessment, Jacob will return to England for further evaluation ahead of England’s upcoming Test series,” the team said.
Bethell had missed his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday due to the injury.
Bethell had replaced an injured Phil Salt in the playing XI but could not emulate his compatriot’s impact at the top. He scored just 96 runs in seven innings this season, with his highest score being a run-a-ball 27 against Mumbai Indians.
RCB finished at top of the points table with nine wins from 14 games, and will face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday in Dharamshala.
